Kite Festival at Hermann Park March 25th, 2018

We had such a fun time at Hermann Park's annual Kite Festival!

Harper is too young to fly a kite but she had just as much fun with her brother's streamer!

We brought Beau's Star Wars kite so he could join in on the fun.

We brought bubbles!

When we had had enough kite flying, we walked over to the McGovern Lake. There we stopped at the Steel City Pops kiosk for a sweet treat!

Beau wanted to try the chocolate but Harper would not let it out of her grip!

We look forward to the 2019 Kite Festival!

Heights Music Festival March 24th, 2018

On Saturday, March 24th we attended the Heights musical Festival at Love Park! This event was free and had tons of fun activities for the kids, as well as some great information for parents who want to get their kids engaged in music/ art activities.

After enjoying all of the festivities we grabbed an all natural sno cone!

We had those after devouring the very un-natural donuts.

We look forward to attending this event again next year, since Beau will be almost 6 and will be a better age for most of the programs that are advertised.

Houston Rodeo March 21st, 2018

This year, one of Bryan’s co workers let us buy some of her rodeo tickets at cost. We purchased four tickets at $40 a piece. We went on a Wednesday, which was perfect for us because the crowds weren’t as bad.

We left our apartment around 2 p and walked a few blocks to Main Street to catch the Metro Rail.

Once there, we hit up the carnival. The first thing to do on Beau’s to do list was to ride a horse.

Ok, technically it was a pony but Beau instructed me to call it a horse.

Then we watched him ride some rides.

In one of the games I threw the ball in to the special slot to win Beau charmmander.

Harper even got to partake in some fun!

Of course she loved this triangle sign.

She even grabbed a rubber ducky!

After we had enough at the carnival, we grabbed some bbq and then went in to NRG Hall. Although we did not spend enough time in here, it was pretty cool. Next year I plan on researching all they have in there to take full advantage of it.

After that we headed to the stadium to watch the rodeo. Harper fell asleep while we enjoyed the calf roping and bull riding!

We left right before the concert started. Even though EVERYONE had boots on, I won't wear mine next time. It was a lot of walking and my feet hurt at the end of the night. I'll be the old lady in sneakers. Ha!

Saint Patrick's Day 2018 Parade Downtown

On St. Patrick's day, there was a parade downtown. I follow Houston's St. Patricks Day Parade page on Facebook and they post all of the details, from time of start, to the route to how you can participate. If you want to go next year make sure to follow them!

Before the parade, Beau and I made cookies shaped like clovers and rainbows. We also read a book about the history of St. Patrick's Day.

Before the parade, I tried to take a few pictures of the kids. You know, like the super cute ones you see on Instagram. Here is what I got...

We were all super festive with our St. Patrick's Day shirts on!

The parade was very interesting with all sorts of political figures and weird cars. They threw beads and suckers so the kids loved it.

I'm glad we made the short walk to Minute Maid Field for this.
